Data model

The data model describes what each record holds: its fields, their type, their choices. This is where you add the fields your business needs and your own objects. What you create here only exists in your organization.

The Data model page: the list of objects on the left with New object and Create a pipeline, and the contact fields with Add a field, the System badges and the buttons to hide a field.

The Owner gives a member the Edit the data model right from the Members page. Without it, the page says access is restricted.

Contacts, companies, opportunities and tasks accept fields of your own organization, marked Your organisation.

The New field window: the label, the technical key starting with cf_, the fourteen field types and the Required switch.
  1. Pick the object on the left, then click Add a field.
  2. Type the Label. The technical key fills in by itself (it starts with cf_); you can change it before creating the field, not after.
  3. Choose the Type: text, long text, number, decimal, amount (with its currency), checkbox, date, date and time, select, multi-select, e-mail, link, phone or country.
  4. For a select, add the choices and their colours. You can turn on Fill with Verdict: Verdict picks the value on records where the field is empty, and never replaces a value someone entered (see Verdict).
  5. Turn on Required if the field must be filled in on creation, then click Create field.

The type can’t change once the field exists. Organization fields can’t be relations or files. The number of fields depends on your plan.

To edit one of your organization’s fields, click its pencil. Deleting it permanently erases its values on every record. Removing a choice still in use is refused: move those records first, or simply rename the choice.

The other fields come from Arcane and are the same for every organization. You can’t edit them, but the eye Hide in your organisation removes them from your lists and collapses them in your records. Values are kept; one click on the eye brings them back.

Fields marked System or Locked are required by the CRM and always shown. For example a contact’s first name, last name, e-mail, company and owner, or an opportunity’s stage, amount and close date.

An object is a list of your own records: projects, invoices, tickets… A pipeline is an object whose records move from stage to stage, shown as a Kanban.

The New pipeline window: the icon, the singular and plural names, and the stages with their colour, in column order.
  1. Click New object or Create a pipeline.
  2. Pick an icon, then the singular and plural names.
  3. For a pipeline, list the stages in column order, with their colour (at least two).
  4. Click Create object or Create pipeline. The object appears in the left menu, under Objects.

A new object has a Name field and an owner; add your fields to it next. Click its icon to change it and Rename to change its name; a pipeline’s stages are edited in its Stage field. The number of objects and access to pipelines depend on your plan.
