Adding and linking blocks
Section titled “Adding and linking blocks”- Search for a block in the palette, then click it or drag it onto the canvas. The palette groups the Core blocks (triggers, CRM, sources, logic, AI, tools), the CRM modules (e-mail, calendar, meetings, e-signature, customer chat, sequences) and the Integrations.
- Link a block’s output to the next block’s input by drawing a link between their ports. A condition has two outputs (True and False); other blocks have one per possible result.
- Click a block to set its parameters in the right-hand panel.
Each trigger and block is described in Triggers and Blocks.
Right-clicking a block opens its menu: edit, rename, Duplicate (Ctrl+D), copy and paste (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V), Detach links, Delete (Del). On a link: delete it. On the canvas background: add a block at that spot, paste, select all, fit the view or Rearrange blocks.
A block’s parameters
Section titled “A block’s parameters”The Parameters panel shows what the block does, its Label (the name shown on the canvas and in runs), its fields, and sometimes Advanced parameters. An asterisk marks a required field.
A field can hold an expression between double braces, replaced at run time:
| Expression | Value |
|---|---|
{{ $json.… }} |
The block’s input, that is the previous block’s output. After a “CRM event” trigger, {{ $json.body.record.stage }} is the record’s stage. |
{{ $node.<id>.… }} |
The output of an upstream block, by its id (shown under the block’s name in the panel). |
{{ $now }}, {{ $today }} |
The current date and time, today’s date. |
Type {{ or click a field’s { } button to pick from the available fields rather than typing them.
Save, activate, publish
Section titled “Save, activate, publish”- Save keeps the draft. If someone changed it elsewhere in the meantime, a banner asks you to reload the page.
- Activate publishes the saved version: from then on it triggers by itself (events, schedules). Unsaved changes are saved first.
- On an active workflow, your changes don’t run until you click Publish changes: the published version is still the one that runs. Once the new version is published, a run still in progress on the old one (for example waiting for an approval) stops with an error at its next block.
- Run now starts the published version: see Following runs.
Activating, publishing, running, deactivating and deleting are reserved for administrators and for the workflow’s author with the Automator option; other members see Activation: administrators, or owner with the Automator option.
