Enroll and publish
A sequence goes out once it is published and contacts are enrolled in it. Each enrollee starts at step 1 and moves at their own pace.
Publish
Section titled “Publish”Publish freezes the sequence’s version and checks before the first email:
- the sending mailbox: its SPF, DKIM and DMARC records, its bounce rate over 30 days and its pace (a mailbox that never sent a sequence ramps up week after week, see Safeguards);
- the contacts: those already in another active sequence (they are not enrolled until it ends) and the unsubscribe link in each email;
- the canvas: an empty step, a condition leading nowhere or a step never reached must be fixed before publishing.
If the mailbox’s domain has no SPF record, publishing is blocked until you tick Publish despite the warning: without it, your emails may land in spam. Send the DMARC instructions to the domain admin opens a ready-to-send email with the record to add. For a personal address (Gmail, Outlook.com…), these settings are handled by the provider.
An active sequence is edited as a draft: the button becomes Publish changes.
Enroll contacts
Section titled “Enroll contacts”In the Enrolled tab, click Enroll contacts. Enrollments happen on a published sequence.
- By rules: conditions on the fields of the contact, their company or their linked opportunity, or on their meetings (none or at least one in the last number of days). Combine them with all conditions or at least one condition, in groups, or start from a saved view. Only the first 2,000 contacts are taken.
- Also enroll contacts who match these rules later: the sequence regularly enrolls newcomers. Otherwise only contacts matching today are enrolled.
- By hand: search a contact by name, email or company, on top of or instead of rules.
Who will be enrolled counts before you confirm. Left out: contacts without an email address, unsubscribed people, dismissed addresses or domains, those already enrolled here or in another active sequence, customers if the organization set it, and records outside your rights. Pace says when the first emails go out and how many days it takes to send everything without exceeding each mailbox’s cap.
From a record
Section titled “From a record”A contact’s Sequences tab shows each sequence they are in: steps sent and upcoming, the sender, who enrolled them and when, and their opens if they accepted tracking. Enroll in a sequence adds them from step 1; the cross removes them.
With a workflow or Atlas
Section titled “With a workflow or Atlas”A workflow’s Enroll in a sequence block enrolls the contacts of an automation. Atlas can also enroll a contact when you ask, after your confirmation.
